History

The Department of Marketing was founded on September 1, 2002 by separation from the Department of Economics. Later Department was renamed as the Department of Marketing and management of innovative activity. The initial staff of the Department consisted of 5 teachers (Doctor of Economics, Prof. Illiashenko S., Ph.D. Prokopenko O., Ph.D. Bozhkova V., Ph.D Teletov O., senior lecturer Sumina O.), 2 employees of educational-auxiliary staff and one post-graduate student (Bilovodska O.).

A license for preparation of bachelors was received on July 11, 2002.

In 2002, the Department opened a post-graduate school, and in 2003 - doctorate. The first defence of thesis of Department employee post-graduate student Bilovodska O. took a place in 2004. In general, post-graduate students of the Department defended 19 candidate theses and 3 doctoral theses.

In 2003, student Karpishchenko M., prepared by the teachers of the Department, won the National Olympiad in Marketing.

In 2004, student work of Bashuk T. won the third place in the National competition of student research.

In 2004, teachers and employees of the Department had been issued the first complex textbook on a speciality - «Marketing: bachelor course».

In 2005, Ph.D., Assoc. prof. Prokopenko O. was awarded a scholarship of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for young scientists (the same scholarship received Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Bilovodska O. and Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Shipulina Y.).

In 2005, the Department founded the publication of the series of collective monographs on marketing of innovations and innovative management.

In 2006, the first graduation of bachelors, and in 2007 – of specialists and masters on a speciality "Marketing" took place.

Since 2007, the Department organises an annual international scientific-practical conference "Marketing of innovations and innovations in marketing".

In 2007, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Prokopenko O. won the Grant of the President of Ukraine for young scientists (in 2009 the same Grant won Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Bilovodska O. and in 2011 - PhD, Assoc. Prof. Shipulina Y.).

In July, 2009, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Prokopenko O. defended her doctoral thesis.

In 2009, at the All-Ukraine competitions of student's scientific works on marketing the students of a speciality "Marketing" have occupied 2 first places, 2 second places and 1 third place; at the All-Ukraine student's Olympiad in Marketing - the second place.
In September ,2009, PhD in Technical Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Teletov O. defended his doctoral thesis.

In 2010, at the All-Ukraine competitions of student's scientific works on marketing the students of a speciality "Marketing" have occupied the first, the second and the third places; at the Second International Student Festival of PR and advertising “PR-style 2010” - the first place; two students became the finalists in IV All-Ukrainian Youth Competition “Innovative Intellect of Ukraine”.

In February, 2010, the Department founded the publication of the scientific journal "Marketing and Management of Innovations".

In 2010, the Department of Marketing and MIA with the support of the Sumy City Council Department of Education and Science started the contest "Find yourself in Marketing!" for 10-11th year pupils of schools and educational institutions of I-II levels of accreditation.

In 2010, the Department received a license for preparation of masters in the specialty "Management of innovative activity".

Since May, 2010, all staffers of the Department have a scientific degree in economic sciences.

In 2010, the Department founded "The Sumy State University Scientific and Training Center of Marketing Researches"

In June, 2010, the Department teachers received the right to develop a training project of the European Commission TEMPUS «Network of educational centres with modern management techniques". Thus, Doctor of Economics, Prof. Illyashenko S.M. and Ph.D. Illyashenko N.S. (Ukraine) in collaboration with Ph.D. Ryabychenko S.A. (the Russian Federation) have developed a training course "Innovational Management".

In 2011, the Department received a marketing award from the company «GfK Ukraine» for quality, responsibility and fundamental training of students and their research works.

In October 2011 the Department was renamed as the Department of Marketing and management of innovative activity

In November 2011 Associate Professor Bozhkova V. defended her doctoral dissertation

From September 2012 students and graduate students are actively involved in the internship program at the Technical and Humanitarian Academy (Bielsko-Biala, Poland).

In 2013 Illyashenko S. started a course of lectures for students of the Higher School of Economics and Humanitarian (Bielsko-Biala, Poland);

From September 2013 students and graduate students are actively involved in youth exchange programs in Georgia and Macedonia in the framework of the Youth in Action.

In 2014 a series of marketing intellectual games for students 10-11 classes and college students were launched.

In 2014 the Department of Marketing and MIA first in Ukraine has received a license to train students of the specialty 8.18010009 "Exchange Activity" of Masters degree.

In 2015 the magazine department "Marketing and Management of Innovations" indexed Web of Science. In the same year has expanded the geography department of academic mobility, our teachers and students for academic mobility programs studied, were trained at universities in Poland, Portugal, China, Czech Republic, Latvia, Italy and Serbia. According to the results of work in 2015 Department of marketing took 3rd place among the graduating department of Sumy State University.

In 2016 the Department held 10 anniversary International scientific-practical conference "Marketing of innovations and innovations in marketing" which was attended by scientists of Ukraine, the UK, Poland, Lithuania and Belarus. Ser. Dep. Economics, Professor S.M. Illyashenko was a part scientifically methodical commission of marketing. Significantly expanded the composition of foreign members of editorial board of the journal "Marketing and Management of Innovations".
